In line with ‘Forecast of Events’ for year 2020, Guards B, Nigerian Army on Tuesday 17 March held its first quarter inter unit map reading competition which is aimed at enhancing troops understanding of Maps and Map reading equipments as well as thorough usage of Global Positioning System device.
They units that participated are 7 Guards Battalion, 102 Guards Battalion,176 Guards Battalion,177 Guards Battalion and Guards Brigade Garrison.

he units competed keenly in the written aspect of Map reading before they were set off for point to point Navigation, after coordinates were given to them to locate features at the various points.
At the end of the Competition 177 Gds Bn came first, 176 Guards Battalion took 2nd position, 102 came third while Gds Bde Garrison came 4th and 7 Guards Battalion took 5th position
The Special Guest of Honor Brig Gen Adekunle Onilenla during his speech congratulated the participants for a job well done and encourage those the didn’t win to work harder next time.

Brigadier General Mohammed Takuti Usman and Battalion Commanders under the Brigade were on hand to witness the map reading competition.
