IBB condoles ex-Gov. Kure’s family; as Niger State Government declares 3 day morning.

Former Military President and elder statesman General Ibrahim Babangida has condoled with the people of Niger State and the family of former governor of the state, Engr. AA Kure on demise of the former governor.

In a tribute titled ‘My Amiable friend and Companion, Former Governor AA Kure is gone’, IBB said, “The sudden death of former Governor of Niger State, Engineer, Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure, this afternoon in Germany comes to me in a great Shock.

“But as a believer, ‘ All souls must taste dead’ sooner or later, “he said.

In the Condolence, General Babangida, said: “My amiable Friend and Companion is gone. We that were left behind are on transit sooner or later”.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the late Abdulkadir Kure and urged the family, people of Niger State and Nigeria at large to take heart and pray for him in his journey to the great beyond.

Meanwhile, the Niger State government has officially announced the death of the former governor of the State, Engineer Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure.

He died after a brief illness in a German Hospital in Germany on Sunday evening at the age of 61.

In a statement by the Hon Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, in Minna on Sunday night, state government declared a 3 day state-wide mourning for the deceased.

It further stated that all flags should be at Half Mast throughout the state throughout the mourning period.

According to the Commissioner, the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has also declared a work free day on the day of the burial of the former governor to enable all Nigerlites accord the departed leader a befitting burial.

The statement disclosed that the government will miss the wise counsel of the former governor, who despite political differences never failed to offer meaningful advice to the government.

The intervention of the former governor during the recent labour crisis in the state was not only legendary but showed him as an elder statesman whose main concern was for the good, progress and unity of the state.

“Engineer Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure remains a leader who out of office showed concern for the development of the state.

“His statesmanship saw him jettisoning party affiliation when he personally intervened in the recent labour crisis in the state,” the statement concluded.
