IGP Ibrahim Idris performs Ground Breaking for MOPOL 54, Aguleri; as Delta Police nabs Car Snatcher, recover Stolen Car.

  As part of efforts towards boosting security of lives and property in Anambra State, Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris on Thursday 1st June 2017, performed the ground breaking ceremony of MOPOL 54 Squadron headquarters, to be located at Aguleri, Anambra state.

The IGP who arrived Asaba Airport aboard the Nigerian Police Jet was received by the Assistant Inspector General of Zone 9 Umuahia, AIG Hosea Karma and the Commissioners of Police Delta and Abia states, CP Ibrahim Zanna and CP Oyebade.

He then proceded through Onitsha to Aguleri amidst tight security provided Tactical Units including the Explosive Ordinance Unit, Eagle Net 31 and MOPOL 51, where he performed the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Delta State Police Command operatives have arrested a suspected car jacker and recovered a stolen vehicle.

 A statement from the command said, “At about 5pm on 1st of June, 2017, a Safer High Way Patrol Team 019, stationed at the Edo/Delta boundary, by Alifikede-Agbor, while on stop and search, arrested one Sylvester Ijomah of Abbi in Ukwani LGA of Delta State.

 Ijoma was arrested with a Toyota Camry Car with registration No. Delta  AKU 837HT. The car was white in colour and upon interrogation, he confessed to have usded a Master Key to remove the car from where it was parked at 2nd East Circular road, Benin City, Edo State on Wednesday 31st May 2017 at about 8pm.

 Other items recovered from the suspect include a Master Key, Vehicle Plate Number registered Rivers NDN 616JP belonging to another vehicle and one UNIBEN Ssecurity Pass permit.

 The suspect and the exhibits have been handed over to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad Asaba for investigation.
