IGP Special Squads nab 28 Kidnappers, Armed Robbers, Gun Runners and Cattle Rustlers Terrorizing Abuja-Kaduna and Zaria-Kano roads.

Police authorities in Abuja on Thursday paraded suspected vicious kidnappers, armed robbers and cattle rustlers who have been terrorizing and abducting several Nigerians on the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano roads and extorting huge sums of money as ransom.

Among the kidnapping and armed robbery suspects are gang members operating in Sokoto, Niger and Kogi States.

Also paraded were gun runners who were arrested for unlawful possession of prohibited arms and cattle rustlers.

During the parade, arms and ammunition recovered from the suspects and displayed were 5 AK 47 rifles, 2 locally made Barreta Pistols, AK 47 live ammunition and cartridges, 18 locally made rifles of different calibers, 27 rounds of live ammunition, 2o rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 5 magazines and 50 cattle.

The suspects who were paraded at Force headquarters are Abubakar Ibrahim, Basher Shuaibu, Obinna Samson Ani, Kenneth Edeh, Uchechukwu Anoada, Gyan Dabo, Shuaibu, Idris Musa Idris, Denis salami, Umar Mohammed alias chairman, Isa Ibrahim, Lawale Ibrahim.

Others are Nasiru Abubakar, Murtala Ado, Ahamadu saleh, Mohammed Adamu Mohammad Abubakar, Umar Ibrahim, Mohammad Umar, Umaru Yahaya, Ibrahim Umar, Abdullahi sani, Abubakar wada, Ali Bello aka Ali Zugange, Suleiman Mohammed, Shamsudeen Isa, Mingel Sale, Lawal Shehu,

Addressing the media during the parade of the suspects, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood said, “A team of IGP Special Tactical Squad acting on a tip off, intercepted arrested suspects who conspired within themselves and forcefully broke into Rukayya Block Industry at Haudawa, Danmaliki, Kano, they killed the security guard and made away with one tipper truck with reg. KRV 858 XB.

“The suspects confessed to the crime; they will soon be charged to court”.

Another gang was arrested by IGP Special Tactical Squad in Jos, Plateau state when a vehicle they were driving was discovered to be a stolen vehicle-Peugeot 406 reg. no. KMC 540 BF, blue in colour.

58 different types of hansets including 7 units of I-phone, black berry, Samsung, valued at N10.5million was recovered from a gang following a direct complain by one Alhaji Sani Maidaggi to the IGP Special Tactical Squad.

The suspects were arrested at the Aminu Kano International Airport where they are resident.

On the 10th of June, at about 11.30pm, the Police acting on a tip off deployed undercover operatives who trailed and arrested a gang that conspired and abducted an operative working with a security agency in Kaduna state.

The suspects who were apprehended confessed to the series of kidnappings and robberies. They further confessed to ownership 3 AK 47 rifles used during their armed robbery operations.

“Efforts are ongoing towards the arrest of the fleeing members of the gang and possible recovery of the remaining AK 47 rifles in their possession” the FPRO said.

On the recovered cattle, Moshood said, following an intelligence received by the Commander IGP STS/ TIU, ACP Yusuf Kolo, a team of operatives led by ASP Hassan Gimba arrested a notorious armed robber, kidnapper and cattle rustler.

The suspect confessed to be among 17 armed robbery gang terrorizing Niger, Kaduna, Abuja and Kogi states.

Also, the FPRO said one Lawal Shehu  of Kwanam Ganuwa of Zamfara state was arrested 18 locally made rifles of different calibers.

He said, “On 16th June 2017, acting on tip-off, operatives of the Technical Intelligence unit and special tactical squad trailed and arrested the suspect at Karatu area of Niger state and the 18 rifles were recovered in his possession.

The suspect confessed to ownership of the rifles but said they were meant for protection.

The Force PRO however said it is a criminal offence to be in possession of such quantity of arms unlawfully adding that security agencies were available to tackle any criminality if any complaints were brought to their knowledge.
