IGP’s IRT Nabs 6 Armed Robbers/Specialists in Robbing of Banks, Petrol Stations & Car Snatching in Kwara, Kogi, FCT Kaduna.

The Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has smashed a notorious armed robbery gang responsible for several bank robberies, car Snatchings, and attacks on petrol filling Stations within Kwara, Kogi, Niger, FCT and Kaduna States.

 Six of the robbery kingpins were arrested while deadly weapons including 3 AK 47 Rifles, one K2 Rifle, one Pump Action Gun and over 500 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them.

 A Police Statement said, “IRT operatives deployed to Kwara State by IGP Ibrahim Idris to unearth and arrest those responsible for the deadly Offa Bank robbers were inundated with mirage of complaints from resident of Ilorin, Kwara State on incessant Filling Station Robberies and Car Snatching within the state.

 “After unrelenting follow up and deployment of Technology and Support from CP Kwara State and his Personnel, the IRT arrested one suspect, named James Obaje 34yrs native of Dekina LGA of Kogi State.

“His confession led to the arrest of other gang members namely Nelson Yakubu 36yrs Native of Dekina LGA of Kogi State, the gang leader also key lieutenant of the notorious Zakari Yau Kingpin of Criminals and Killers in Kogi State earlier arrested by IRT.

 Others arrested are Yakubu Danladi 27yrs native of Anpka  LGA of Kogi State, Ibrahim Mutari 25yrs Native of Dekina LGA of Kogi State, Suleiman Ilo 35yrs native of Omala LGA of Kogi State, Gboyega Olaoye Age 35yrs native of  Ekiti Kwara LGA, Kwara State.

 The Police said they were all arrested within Kwara, Kaduna and Kogi States. 

 Continuing, the Police said all the suspects confessed to several armed robberies, Bank robberies, Petrol filling Station robberies and car Snatching within Kaduna, Kwara, FCT and Kogi State.

 “Also, recovered are their operational weapons which includes (3) AK47 Rifles, (1) K2 rifle and (1) pump action.

 “Serial numbers of the rifles are KO349815, KO349265, 59476, 301035 and one with defaced serial number respectively, 311 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 286 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition,

 “Operational vehicle recovered are one blue Mazda 626 with registration number KEY627DS used for their operations with the rifles found hidden inside the engine compartment of the Mazda car, charms and several vehicle plate numbers were also recovered from Suspect.

 The Police added that “serious efforts to arrest remaining gang members and recovery of their remaining operational weapons in progress.”

 All the suspects and exhibits were paraded before newsmen by the Commissioner of Police, Kwara state on Tuesday July 10, 2018.
