Kano Shootout: Police Inspector, 3 Boko Haram Insurgents confirmed dead.

The Force Headquarters, Abuja has confirmed that one of the 3 policemen, an Inspector and 3 Boko Haram terrorists, who sustained gunshot injuries in a shoot-out last Sunday 23rd July 2017, in Kano, are dead.

A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, shedding light on the death of the officer and the insurgents said, “Inspector Idris Musa eventually died at about 1pm on Monday 24th July, 2017 from injury he and two (2) other Police officers sustained.

The statement recalled that the policemen came under attack from remnants of Boko-Haram insurgents, who were moving to attack public centres, places of worship and other locations in Kano metropolis in the early hours of 23rd July, 2017

Moshood said the Boko-Haram insurgents attacked the Special Police Team with IEDs and Fire arms, noting that, “the Team repelled the attack and in the process 3 Boko-Haram insurgents sustained serious bullet wound injuries and 3 Police Officers equally were wounded.

“The Special Police Team successfully prevented the Boko-Haram insurgents from carrying out their planned attacks on selected targets in Kano metropolis on the fateful date” he added.   

The late Inspector of Police was a member of the Joint Police Special Team set up by the IGP to trail, arrest and prevent the remnant of Boko-Haram insurgents from regrouping to attack innocent Nigerians in Kano and other northern States.

CSP Moshood said “Three (3) of the confessed Boko-Haram insurgents arrested and paraded with bullet wounds they sustained during exchange of fire with the Police Special Team in the early hours of 23rd July, 2017 namely, Abba Mohammed 20years from Niger Republic, Usman A. Buhari 23years an indigene of Borno State and Iliyasu Abdullahi 46years of Gezawa, Kano State died later on 23rd July, 2017 from the bullet wound injuries”.    

While commiserating with the family of late Inspector Idris Musa, the IGP extoled and appreciated his act of bravery, gallantry and supreme sacrifice of losing his life in active service to his fatherland, and the Nigeria Police Force.

“He will forever be remembered as one of the heroes of the Nigeria Police Force in the fight against Boko-Haram insurgency in the Nigeria. His death will definitely not be vain” the IGP said.
