The Katsina State Police Command said on Wednesday that its operatives have succeeded in smashing syndicates of motorcycle snatchers which specialized in attacking innocent motorcycle riders and snatching away their motorcycles.
Giving details of the Arrest in a statement, Police Public Relations officer, DSP Isah Gambo said, “the On the 15th September, 2017 at about 10am, based on a tip up, the Command succeeded and arrested one Kabiru Salisu alias Basau aged 25yrs of Gobarau qrts, Katsina and Usman Ashiru aged 21yrs of Alkalawa qrts, Daura, Katsina.
They were caught in possession of two motorcycles, one Hajoue Ash in colour with Engine No. 152FMHXIF21949, Chasis No. CC6XCHE39000149 and Honda Kasea red in colour with engine No. 09004949.
During the course of police investigation suspects confessed to have snatched the motorcycles from Maradi in Niger Republic with others presently at large.
Investigation is ongoing with a view to arrest the rest of the offenders and recovery of more stolen motorcycles.
Furthermore, on the 16/09/2017 the command also succeeded and arrested one Mubarak Umar aged 24yrs of Kukar Gesa qrts, Katsina who conspired with one Abubakar now at large and attacked an Okada Motorcyle rider one Kasimu Adamu of Rafukka qrts, Katsina, with iron hammer and snatched away his motorcycle Bajaj red in colour with registration No.QB 913 NGW.

Suspects disguised himself as a passenger and took the rider to their hideout where the other suspect Abubakar came out and hit him with iron hammer.
The said Mubarak then took the motorcycle but as God will have it, luck ran out of him, he had an accident with it while trying to escape and fell into a nearby ditch.
He sustained serious head injury. Both the complainant and suspect were rushed to General hospital Katsina. They were treated and discharged.
The iron hammer was recovered from his possession during police search.
Suspect confessed to the crime and has been charged to Chief Magistrate court four Katsina for the offences of Criminal Conspiracy and Armed Robbery.
ARREST OF NOTORIOUS SUSPECT WHO SPECIALIZES IN CARJACKING
Also, the Katsina state Command disclosed that it has succeeded and arrested a notorious suspect who specializes in carjacking. The suspect one Rahim Adebayo ‘m’ of Gusau, Zamfara state was intercepted while he was trying to escape with stolen motor vehicle Toyota corolla, registration No. KW 171 GG, Chasis No.INXBR32E94Z15387, which he stole from House No. 54 on 24th Crescent, 2nd Avenue Gwarinfa, Abuja. Suspect is making useful statement and is assisting the police in our investigation.
