Katsina Police busts notorious kidnap/criminal syndicates; arrests several kidnappers & housewife who stabbed husband to death. 

Operatives of the Katsina Police Command have busted several notorious kidnap syndicate, arrested wanted kidnappers and a housewife who stabbed her husband to death among other suspects.
Giving a breakdown of the arrests, Spokesman of the command, DSP Gambo Isah said, “On 30/01/2020 at about 1:30pm, based on intelligence report, the Command succeeded in busting a notorious syndicate of kidnappers operating in Katsina metropolis.  
“Operatives of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Katsina succeeded in arresting the duo of one Nura Tukur,  aged 20yrs of Sabon-Gida Quarters, Katsina and Sani Musa, alias “ADUNKULE”, aged 27yrs of of Farin-Yaro Quarters, Katsina who specialize in sending threat messages of kidnapping to unsuspecting members of the public and demanding for payment of ransom or risk being kidnapped.  
“On 21/01/2020 the hoodlums called and sent text messages to one Alhaji Umar Sale through his phone line and threatened to kidnap him or he pays the sum of #40 million as ransom.  “On 18/01/2020 they called one Alhaji Tasiu Danladi, of Sabon Gida Quarters. Katsina and demanded the payment of two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) or risk being kidnapped.
“On 23/01/2020 they sent threats through text messages and phone calls to one Alhaji Yahaya Bello, of Sullubawa Quarters, Katsina, demanding payment of two hundred thousand naira (N200,000:00K) or himself or any member of his family risk been kidnap.
“On 12/01/2020 the suspects used the same modus operandi and threatened one Dr. Abba Mohd,  of Sabon Gida Quarters, Katsina to pay the sum of two hundred thousand or risk being kidnapped.
“In the course of investigation suspects confessed to the commission of the crime.
“Similarly, on 26/01/2020 at about 12:30hrs, Operatives of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Katsina state, acting on intelligence report, succeeded in arresting one Fahad Salisu, aged 22yrs of Kafadi Layout, Bakori LGA of Katsina state, a notorious member of kidnap for ransom syndicate. 
 “Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he called one Aminu Shitu, of Bakori LGA of Katsina state and threatened to kidnap him or he should pay the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000:00K) as ransom.
“In the course of investigation suspect confessed to the commission of the offence.  Investigation is ongoing.  
“On 26/01/2020 at about 10:30hrs, one Sanusi Muhammad, of Dangani village, Musawa LGA of Katsina state reported at Musawa Division that unknown persons were threatening him with phone calls that he should pay the sum of three million naira (N3, 000, 000:00K) or else they will be coming to kidnap him or any member of his family.  
“Similarly, one Alhaji Danladi Abdu, of Musawa LGA of Katsina state reported a similar complaint that he received a similar threat using the same GSM number and demanded to pay to the kidnappers the sum of one million naira (N1,000,000:00) or risk being kidnapped.  
“In the course of investigation a combine team of police and repentant bandits laid ambush for the hoodlums at the point of collecting the ransom and arrested one Kabiru Abdullahi, aged 45yrs and Mamuda Abdullahi, aged 35yrs of Kiryoyi village, Musawa LGA of Katsina state who went to pick the ransom.  
“Suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and similarly other related offences in which investigation is ongoing.

“On 23/01/2020 at about 15:30hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Sama’ila Musa, aged 30yrs of Yan-Nabayye village, Rimi LGA of Katsina state suspected to be a notorious member of secret cult group. 
“A team of policemen led by DPO Rimi Division, uncovered the house where the suspect incarcerated his two wives and shackled them with chains.  
“In the course of investigation police discovered that the victims were having marks and signs of brutalization on their bodies. 
“They defecate in the same room where they were chained, their hair barbed for ritual purposes by the suspect, who also ground pepper in their private parts and eyes during their menstrual periods, suspect also asks them to clean up semen with clothes after having sex with both and asks them to drink the water, among other devilish occultist acts. 
“One Suleiman Salisu, m, aged 35yrs of Yar-Tsamiya village, Rimi LGA of Katsina state was also arrested as his accomplice.  Investigation is ongoing.
“On 29/01/2020 at about 05:30hrs, DPO Malumfashi Division responded to a distress call based on a report that one Shamsu Salisu, aged 25yrs of Almakiyayi village, Malumfashi LGA of Katsina state had an altercation with his wife one Rabi Rabi’u, aged 17yrs of the same address, but later while he was asleep the wife stabbed him with knife in several places in his body including his abdomen. 
“As a result, he sustained serious injuries.  The Police team rushed the victim to Malumfashi General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the attending physician. 
 “In the course of investigation the police have recovered a sharp knife and a bed sheet all stained with blood.  Investigation is ongoing.    
 “On 30/01/2020 at about 09:30hrs, Police Safer Highway Patrol team while on duty along Katsina – Daura road intercepted a motor vehicle, Golf III, Wagon, green in colour, with registration number KTN 93 YX, driven by one Sani Ibrahim aged 45yrs of Malamawa Quarters, Zango LGA of Katsina state with thirty parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. 
“One Abdulmajid Bala, 39yrs, a Transport Union Member was also arrested in connection with the case.  Investigation is ongoing. 
Continuing, DSP Isah said, “A stakeholders’ meeting of Tuesday, 21/01/2020 held by the Commissioner of Police, Katsina state Command, CP Sanusi Buba, and stakeholders in the transportation sector of Katsina state, comprising all Transport Unions in the state, Commander Federal Road Safety Corps and Katsina Vehicle Inspection Officer, where it was unanimously agreed that members will go out and sensitize their members against overloading and carrying animals in trailers and other vehicles together with passengers and other violation of traffic regulations will be sanctioned.  
“After the expiration of the one week grace, it became imperative for the Command to warn erring motorists that the command will not compromise its mandate of protecting life and property of citizens of Katsina state and fold its arms while innocent people perished in ghastly motor vehicle accidents.   
He disclosed that on 19/01/2020 at about 9pm, a ghastly motor accident involving a trailer loaded with cows and passengers occurred along Maiaddua – Shargalle road, claiming seventeen, while fourteen were injured. 
 “On Sunday 2/02/2020 the Command began a clamp down on erring motorists and arrested twenty six (26) drivers for various traffic related offences especially overloading and carrying passengers along with animals at Charanchi market, Katsina state.  
“Suspects will be charged to court for prosecution, while the exercise continues until there is total compliance to traffic laws and regulations in Katsina state.
“On 16/01/2020 at about 12:30pm, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Zaharadeen Isyaku, aged 25yrs of Jani village, Mani LGA of Katsina state, a notorious armed robbery suspect terrorizing Katsina and Niger states.  
“In the course of investigation one Toy Pistol was recovered in his possession.  Suspect confessed to the crime.”
