Operatives of the Katsina state Police Command have on Wednesday engaged dare devil armed bandits in a gun battle following the abduction of a mother and her daughter in Batsari local government area and at the end of the gun duel, rescued the victims.

Confirming the gallant efforts of the Police officers in a statement , DSP Gambo Isah, Police Public Relations Officer of the command said, ” On 11/03/2020 at about 23:50pm, bandits numbering twelve, on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Yan Maiwa village, Batsari and kidnapped a mother and her daughter Binta Abdullahi, aged 35yrs and Baraka Abdullahi, aged 15yrs, all of Yan Maiwa village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state respectively.Â
“Operations Puff Adder and Sharan Daji comprising police and military were mobilized to the scene and blocked the likely exit route of the hoodlums.
“Fortunately, the bandits followed the route and the team engaged them into a gun duel.Â
“The hoodlums abandoned their mission, and escaped into the dreaded Rugu forest while the joint operation rescued the victims alive and unhurt.
 “Search party are still combing the forest with a view to arrest the fleeing suspects who might have escaped with gunshot wounds and also to recover their operational weapons. Investigation is ongoing”
