The Katsina state Police Command, on Sunday 24th December 2017 at about 3am succeeded in foiling an armed robbery and a kidnapping incident at Unguwar Dahiru, Makera, Funtua LGA of Katsina state.
A statement by the Command said, “On that fateful day, the robbers numbering seven (7) armed with AK 47 rifles, one of them in Army uniform, stormed the house of one Alhaji Abubakar Isah, Manager Abdulsalam Global Petroleum, Funtua with intent to Kidnap him but was lucky to have alerted the police on time and escaped through the fence.
The robbers/kidnappers might have had information that, his filling station was the only one that had fuel in Funtua that day and sold fuel up to the late hours.

However, the police team led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Jibrin One Mohammed arrived the scene on time and engaged the armed robbers in a gun duel.
The gallantry exhibited by the DPO and his team succeeded in repelling the hoodlums out of Funtua.
Consequently, during exchange of fire with the robbers, the DPO sustained gun shot on his left wrist.
He was rushed to Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina, where he was admitted and is responding to treatment.
The Commissioner of police Katsina state command, CP BD Gwana has already mobilized police patrol teams, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Police mobile force (PMF) units to comb the area with a view to arresting the armed robbers.
He thereby assured the people of the area of their security and safety and to go about their lawful business without fear as the police are on top of the situation.
