The Police in Katsina state have made several achievements in the resolve to dismantle criminal elements, with the smashing of a notorious kidnapping/armed robbery syndicate and arrest of a notorious killer of tricycle operators, who later snatches the machine for sale.
Giving details of the breakthrough at a media briefing on Thursday, Commissioner of Police Katsina State, CP Usman Abdullahi said, “On 18th June 2017 at about 3.30pm, the Command smashed a notorious syndicate of armed robbery/Kidnapping syndicate that blocked Jikamshi – Yashe Road, Musawa LGA. Katsina state.
Suspects arrested are Halliru Auwal 28 yrs of Lafiya village Kaduna state, Hassan Bello ‘m’ aged 26yrs of Huguma village Kafur LGA Katsina state, Haruna Dahiru 25 yrs of Bauranya village Kusada LGA Katsina state, and Haruna Musa 27 yrs of Hunkuyi, Kudan LGA, Kaduna state
Exhibits recovered from the suspects included one Motor vehicle Golf with registration number SBG 185 AA, N146,410:00k, N350, 000 in Niger Republic CFA currency, 19 types of GSM Handsets, one HP Laptop, one Bullet proof vest made of charms, one bag containing different cosmetics, one sharp knife, 5 yards of shadda clothes and 2 empty shells of expended ammunition were recovered at the scene
“During the course of investigation, victims were traced and invited through the GSM Handsets recovered from the syndicate and it was revealed that, the syndicate was also the one that blocked Kusada – Kankia road, and robbed motorists of their belongings.
“Suspects confessed to have been carrying out series of Armed Robbery attacks on the highway and have also kidnapped at one time a member House of Representative representing Kontagora, Niger state, whose GSM phone was found in their possession.
“The Robbers confessed that on that same day they also abducted one Yoruba woman and took her into the bush where they raped her.

On the killing of tricycle operators, the Katsina Police said, “On 16th June 2017 at about 9am, one Nura Ado of Yar Unguwa, Birchi village, Kurfi LGA Katsina state chattered a tricycle ridden by one Ibrahim Akilu aged 22yrs of Rahamawa qrts Katsina and took him into his house at Yar Unguwa, Birchi, Kurfi LGA, Katsina state where he used a heavy fire wood and hit him on his head.
“When the victim fell down and became unconscious, he then pushed him into an old Well inside his compound and made away with his tricycle with registration number MLF 420 QA valued at N545, 000:00K.
“The motorcycle was later recovered in Kano while the dead body of the victim was removed from the Well inside the suspect’s compound.
Also, On 15th June 2017 at about 2pm, one Babangida Garba 42 yrs of Kasuwar Mata, Funtua LGA Katsina state was arrested having carnal intercourse with a Goat belonging to his neighbor.
Regarding the offence of homicide, the Police said, “On the 12th of June 2017 at about 22pm, one Salisu Shafi’u 17yrs of Inwala qrts, Katsina state was brought to Sabon Gari Division Katsina in full of his own blood with deep matchet cut on his head and reported that, he was attacked by Kauraye miscreants.
They are are Shamsu Sulaiman 20yrs alias Miyau of Bayan stadium, Kwado quarters, Katsina, Suleman Haladu 18yrs alias Manu of the same address, Sirajo Kabir 16yrs alias Tsitaka of the same address and Amar Usman 19yrs old of the same address.
“Victim was rushed to General Hospital Katsina for treatment and later died while receiving treatment.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects are 2 Cutlasses, One Knife, and One Axe.
The Police said it also arrested a notorious Car Jacker on the 9th of June 2017 at about 1.30pm named Murtala Abdulraham aged 30yrs who went to Central Mosque Funtua, Katsina state and used master key, opened and stole a motor vehicle Honda Civic 92 Model, red in colour, chassis number 001533, with registration number AA 521 DDM valued N950, 000:00K belonging to one Ibrahim Musa ‘m’ of Funtua Katsina state.
The Police recovered one Motor vehicle Honda Civic 92 Model, red in colour with registration number AA521 DDM valued N950,000:00 and assorted types of MASTER KEYS that can open any type of vehicle
