Katsina Police Smash Notorious Robbery Syndicates arrest 10 suspects; recover Brownie Pistol, Automatic Pump Action Rifle, 3-barrel mouthed gun and 6 cartridges.

The Police in Katsina State have arrested ten armed robbery suspects in two separate operations which led to the smashing to the gang’s activities even as several arms and ammunition was recovered from their hideouts.

A statement from the office of the Commissioner of Police, CP Abdullahi giving details said, “On 7th August, 2017 at about 3pm, Katsina State Police Command succeeded in smashing a notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing some parts of Katsina state metropolis.

“Earlier, on the same day at about 1:30pm, the syndicate all wearing face masks, invaded and attacked the residence of one Mrs. Annah J. Wali of behind Batagarawa Low cost, Katsina state at gun point and robbed her of the some items.

The items include the sum of Ninety Thousand Naira (N90,000) cash, GSM Handsets valued N47,000, Gold Jewelries valued N300,000, Plasma TV and Video Game valued N93,000.

Based on a tip-up, five members of the syndicate were trailed to their various hide outs and were apprehended.

They are, Ibrahim Abubakar alias MALLAM of Batagarawa Low Cost, Abdulrahaman Usman alias BAGIWA of Batagarawa Low Cost, Muhammed Sabi’u alias DK of Batagarawa Low Cost, Mustapha Abubakar alias NA-BABA of Rahamawa qrts Katsina and Buhari Sani alias ‘YAR-BAHA of Rahamawa quarters, Katsina.

During the course of investigation suspects led police detectives to an uncompleted building were one automatic Pump Action Rifle No.10897 with the three live cartridges and one Brownie Pistol were recovered.

Other exhibits recovered from the syndicate include, Plasma TV “32, Rechargeable Lamp, One Army Camouflage short knickers, Four MTN SIM cards, one remote control and others.

The suspects also confessed to have robbed at gun point, the residence of one Alhaji Bishir Yar’aduwa of Batagarawa Low Cost and stole away unspecified amount of money, Gold jewelries and other valuables.

In another development, the Command said, On 1st August 2017, based on a tip-off Police from Katsina succeeded in smashing a notorious gang of armed robbers who on the 31st July 2017 at about 10.40pm, attacked the house of one Mas’udu Adamu aged 30yrs of Kurulere village, Danmusa LGA.

A statement by DSP Gambo Isah, Police Public Relations Officer said, “They robbed him of his motorcycle Boxer, valued N170, 000.

“One Ali Bammi aged 20yrs of the same address, who went to the house of the victim few minutes before the armed robbery incident was arrested and made useful statement which led to the arrest of other co-conspirators.

“The suspects are Beti Usaini aged 20yrs, Ibrahim Saidu aged 19yrs, Murnai Abubakar aged 21yrs and Surajo Saidu aged 20yrs all of kurulere village, Danmusa, Katsina.

“During the course of investigation one 3-Barrel Gun was recovered from their possession.”
