Katsina Police sustains tempo on criminals; Smash Armed Robbery, Rustling & Kidnap syndicates; Bandits collaborators

As clampdown on all forms of crime and criminality thrives in Katsina state; the Command under the leadership of CP Sanusi Buba has being recording tremendous achievements in that regard.

During the period under review the following achievements were made as abridged hereunder:

On 16/04/2019 at about 16:30hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Jafaru Yahaya, aged 40yrs of Mallamawa village, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state, a member of notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate terrorising Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state and Faskari LGA of Katsina state.

Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he trespassed into the house of one Alh Garba Gajere of Faskari LGA of Katsina state and intimidated him that, he has been paid the sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) to kidnap or kill him but because of cordial relation he has with him, he will not kill him but he should refund the three hundred thousand naira.

In the course of investigation suspect confessed to the offence.

One locally made fabricated Pistol and axe were recovered in his possession.

Suspect is assisting the police with useful information that may lead to the arrest of other members of his syndicate. Investigation is ongoing.

Also, the command said that on 17/04/2019 at about 02:50hrs, Police patrol team attached to Kankara Division responded to a distress call at Yan-Geme village, Kankara where bandits numbering about six (6) trespassed into the house of one Alhaji Salmanu Abdullahi of Yan-Geme village and whisked away his wife to unknown destination.

The patrol teams in synergy with some vigilante members gave the hoodlums a chase and arrested one Suleiman Lawal, aged 40yrs of Gidan Ruga village, Kankara.

Suspect has confessed to the commission to the offence along with five other bandits.

One locally fabricated gun, a cutlass and a knife were recovered in his possession. Investigation is ongoing.

A statement signed by SP Isah Gambo, PPRO further said, “On 15/04/2019 at about 10:30hrs, the Command succeeded in smashing a notorious syndicate of armed robbery suspects that specializes in attacking Okada motorcycle riders and robbing them off of their motorcycles.

On 10/04/2019 at about 14:30hrs, the suspects one Harisu Audu, aged 23yrs and Tanimu Abdu, aged 18yrs both of Kubulen Gada village of Niger Republic chattered an Okada commercial rider, one Mustapha Alto, of Sharifawa village, Daura LGA of Katsina state to Dan-Nakola village, Daura.

While on their way the suspects used cable wire and strangulated the victim to a state of unconsciousness and made away with his motorcycle Daylong, unregistered, valued at one hundred and ninety three thousand naira (N183,000:00K).

In the course of investigation suspects were apprehended with the said motorcycle at Birnin Kudu, Jigawa state.

Suspects have confessed to the commission of the offence. They will be arraigned in court for prosecution.

On the arrest of suspect who specialize in fabrication of of locally made firearms, he said, “On 18/04/2019 at about 16:00hrs, “Operation Puff Adder” Police patrol teams while on routine patrol accosted one Haruna Ibrahim, aged 25yrs of Sherere village, Kankara in possession of eight (8) locally made guns displayed in his shop.

In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have specialized in fabricating, manufacturing and sale of locally made firearms.

Regarding the Bandits collaborators, he said, “On 24/04/2019 at about 06:00hrs, Operation Sharan Daji deployed to Danmusa LGA of Katsina state succeeded in arresting the duo of one Bello Lawal aged 30yrs of Nasarawa village Danmusa LGA of Katsina state and Mohammed Bature, aged 20yrs of Yantumaki, a pump attendant attached to SKAMOS Petroleum station Yantumaki with twelve (12) jerricans fully loaded with petroleum product on two motorcycles heading towards the forest.

In the process of arresting them one Liti Mohammed of Maidabino village abandoned his motorcycle loaded with fuel and escaped to unknown destination. Investigation is ongoing.

“On 13/04/2019 at about 06:00hrs, the command succeeded in smashing a syndicate that specializes in theft of hospital equipments.

“Nemesis caught up with one of the suspect Hamza Sani, aged 30yrs of Yar Talata village Kafur when he was arrested at Malumfashi General Hospital in possession of stolen hospital equipments.

In the course of investigation suspect confessed to various related crimes in the hospital and mentioned the following suspects as his cohorts:

Magaji Yusuf, aged 36yrs of Kankara LGA of Katsina state, Hamza Sani, aged 30yrs of Yar talata village Kafur, Saidu Shehu, aged 40yrs of Kankara, Kamala Aliyu, aged 33yrs of Unguwar Mu’azu Quarters Kaduna state, and Emmanuel Ukelere, aged 48yrs of Tudun Wada Quarters Kaduna state

In the course of investigation one Microscope valued N1,400,000:00K and a Colorimeter valued N600,000:00K were recovered from their possession. Investigation is ongoing.

Additionally, “On 21/04/2019 at about 11:20hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in smashing a syndicate that specializes in Indian Hemp trafficking in Katsina.

The following suspects were arrested in possession of twenty-four sealed parcel of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.
