The Police Special Intelligence Response Team have arrested 2 members of the robbery/kidnap gang that abducted four British citizens in Burutu Delta state last October.
One of the kidnapped Britons’, 56 year old Ian Squire, a charity worked and Optician of ‘New Foundations’ was reportedly killed by the kidnappers.
Following the incident, the IGP’s Intelligence team was deployed to Delta State in pursuit of the kidnappers of the 4 British citizens in the Burutu area on 13th October 2017.
Consequently, “The IRT on Wednesday 8th November 2017, successfully arrested 2 of the Kidnappers in Warri Delta State”.
“The arrested kidnappers confessed and volunteered to lead the IRT Operatives to arrest their remaining gang members in Sapele town”.

“On reaching Sapele one of the kidnappers was sighted by the gang members already arrested and as IRT operatives advanced to arrest him, he suddenly brought out a Barrette Pistol and shot F/no 359454 Sgt Sanusi Lanre in the Stomach and F/no:360140 Sgt Agunbiade Adebayo on his 2 hands”.
“Other IRT team members around immediately replied and gunned down the kidnapper that Shot the police officers and recovered the Barrette Pistol from him”.
The Police said “The 2 injured IRT operatives have been admitted in Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DESUTH) Oghara where Sgt Sanusi Lanre is undergoing emergency surgery as at 3am Thursday November 11 2017.
“The Dead body of the Kidnapper is deposited at Same Hospital Mortuary”.
“Pints of blood and other items requested for the surgery was provided”.
“Several senior officers are on ground in the hospital to assist the injured officers.”
