Kogi Police Arrest 16 Dare-Devil Suspects in Crack Down on Armed Robbers, Kidnappers, Cultists, Car Jacker; Recover Stolen Vehicle, Cash.

 The Kogi State Police Command in a major onslaught against criminal activities in the State have busted several gangs in their hideouts and black spots resulting in the dislodgment of vicious and notorious kidnap for ransom gangs, armed robbers, cultists as well as a Car Jacker.

Consequently, the police led by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested 16 suspected criminals in the various operations.

They include Shaibu Ali Adejoh, Johnson Yusuf, Joseph Ukwomonu, Shabu Oseni, Sani Arome, Alhaji Shadow, Samsom Akogwu, Joseph Mathias, Hassan Idris, Iliyasu Shaibu, Ibrahim Hamza, Adejoh Moses a.k.a Amana, Sani Paul a.k.a Mr. PA, Hassan Idris, Chinedu Obi and Shehu Aliyu.

Giving details of their arrest in a statement signed by ASP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officer, the Kogi police said, “Operatives attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) led by the Commanding officer, DSP Babagana Bukar, acting on a tip-off arrested the following kidnappers, armed robbers, car jacker and recovered arms and ammunition as well as other dangerous weapons and charms.

“On 8/11/2017 operatives attached to SARS led by the Commanding Officer, DSP Babagana Bukar, acting on a tip-off that one Shaibu Ali Adejoh of Ashigili village in Dekina LGA of Kogi State was seen with one Light Blue Colour Toyota Camry Muzzle, Reg No. KRD 412 EX while approaching people in the community to enable him dispose the car.

“The operatives promptly swung into action arrested the suspect and recovered the exhibit.

“Investigation revealed that, the suspect stole the car from his madam in Lagos. The owner confirmed that the car was stolen.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and will soon be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

Also, “On the 4/11/2017 at about 2000hrs based on information that some notorious armed robbers terrorizing Idah and its environs were sighted at the water side area at Idah.

“Operatives attached to SARS swung into action, busted their hideout and arrested the suspect and recovered the exhibits.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed belonging to a gang of armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Idah area.

“Efforts are in top gear to arrest the other members of the gang. Suspect will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

Similarly, “On 9/11/2017 at about 1030hrs, operatives attached to SARS acting on a tip-off intercepted and arrested the suspects.

“Exhibits recovered by the police include one cutlass, a mask, plasma TV set, some dangerous charms and a knife.

“On interrogation suspects confessed to series of armed robbery around Idah axis.

“They will soon be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

“On 30/10/2017 at about 1000hrs, based on information received from one Mr. Ogbu Chikechi of Igabada village, Igalamela/Odolu LGA of Kogi State that on 29/10/2017 at about 1900hrs while he was harvesting his garden eggs farm, some hoodlums numbering about five with cutlasses came from the bush and kidnapped him.

“He further stated that, ransom of one Hundred thousand naira (N100, 000.00) was paid.

“Meanwhile he was able to recognize one of the suspects named Alhaji Shadow of Igabada among the kidnappers.

“During interrogation, Alhaji Shadow confessed to the crime which led to the arrest of the suspects.

Regarding arrest of cultists, the police said, “On 31/10/2017 at about 1700hrs, based on information that, one Ibrahim Hamza of No. 7 Okwete Idah is a member of a notorious armed robbery gang terrorizing Idah area, Operatives attached to SARS promptly swung into action on a surveillance to the area arrested Ibrahim Hamza.

“On interrogation, he confessed to be a member of NEO Black African confraternity secret cult that usually terrorized innocent people on Idah and its environs.

“Further investigation led to the arrest of the other two suspects above and recovered the exhibits.

Also, “On 21/10/2017 at about 1600hrs, acting in a tip-off that on 18/10/2017 about 2130hrs, the above suspect and his gang members broke into the houses of Apeh Emmanuel, Mohammed Abubakar and Abu U. Ali all of Idah and disposes them of their properties such as Keui Nator Plasma TV, Dell Laptop, Handsets, the sum of thirty thousand naira and other valuable items. The suspects confessed to the crime.

Arrest of Transformer Vandals

“On 18/9/2017 at about 1830hrs police received a complaint received from the Regional manager of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company in charge of Kogi State one Alhaji Madani Garba, that some hoodlums suspected to have vandalized a 300KVA Transformer S/No 2113033 worth N2, 800, 000.00. (Two million, eight hundred thousand naira only) mounted at Sokomba Auto Solution Limited along zone 8 Lokoja.

“The gang was led by one Obison known as Chinedu Obi of opposite 200 Units Lokoja.

“Chinedu contracted one Shehu Aliyu who is a hiab driver and took the said transformer to unknown destination.

“The suspects were arrested while other members of the gang are at large. Effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspects”.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Janga has charged the Area Commanders as well as DPOs to beef up security in their Area of Responsibilities (AOR) and ensure massive deployment of Police patrol teams and undercover operatives to black spot, flash points and other vulnerable criminal spots to nip in the bud all forms of crimes and criminally across the State and to make the Ember months safe for the good people of the State and visitors alike to go about their lawful businesses.

He said, “The renewed commitment of the Command to reduce crimes and criminally in the State remains unwavering.”
