The Police in Kogi State have killed a notorious and wanted armed robbery kingpin ‘Lukeman’ who is believed to be the brain behind several dare-devil robbery attacks and killings in the state including the assassination of three police officers in Itakpe and Ogori-Mangogo areas of the state within the last two months.
Nemesis was said to have caught up with the kingpin when he led his gang to Ihima Police station, shot two police personnel on their legs and riddled the patrol van belonging to the DPO because he got information that the police were on a man hunt for him.
It was gathered that a ceremony was on for one of the prominent chiefs in Okene which he and some of his members attended when he learnt that the police had been given a mandate to arrest him hence his decision to storm the police facility to ‘teach them a lesson’.
The Police said Luckman had been on the wanted list of the Kogi State Police Command after some of his members were arrested for kidnapping and other robberies after which they confessed he was their leader.

The Police said that following his attack on the police station, officers mobilized and went to his hideout where his gang members engaged the police in a gun battle, resulting on his being injured, after which he was taken to the Federal Medical Center and he gave up the ghost before medical attention could be administered on him.
Lukeman himself was said to have ordered his gang members to open fire on the policemen but was gunned down by the policemen while several arrests were made.
Describing the killing of Lukeman as a breakthrough that will give the people of Kogi State a great sigh of relief, the police said, his atrocities were far more deadly than the notorious Zakari Yau, another notorious kidnapper/armed robbery kingpin who once terrorized Kogi, Benue and neighbouring communities for years.
Following his death, some of his gang members went on the rampage, burning vehicles, touching a police post, the house of Kogi State Commissioner for Water Resources, and the Palace of a traditional ruler, Obobanyi of Emani Clan, Chief Samuel Onimisi.
The Kogi State Police Commissioner, Wilson Inalegwu, confirmed the killing of the kingpin noting that Lukman and his gang drew the first blood by opening fire on the SARS operatives after which he met his waterloo.
