Kogi Police Smash Kidnap/Robbery Syndicates; House Burglars; arrest culprits.

The Kogi State Police Command in its continued onslaught against hoodlums in the State, through proactive crime preventing strategies have arrested two kidnappers and a notorious house burglar who have been terrorizing good citizens of the State.

The Command through the implementation of its crime fighting strategies recorded the successes.

A statement in this regard said, “Sequel to report on 24th of July, 2017 at about 5.30pm by one Hon Ododo, a member representing Dekina/Biraidu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, that unknown hoodlums were threatening him via GSM phone to give them the sum of N3million to avoid being kidnapped.

“Operatives attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad promptly swung into action accompanied the complainant to the agreed point where money will be dropped at Omadeni village in Dekina Local Government of Kogi State, and laid siege on the suspects.

“The Operatives stormed at the suspects while coming to pick the money, and arrested the duo of Omeje Shehu and Mohammed Jibril, while others fled into the bush.

“One locally made single barrel pistol, one live cartridge and thirteen cowries were recovered from the gang. Effort is on to track down the fleeing suspects.

 ‘In another development, on the 16th of July, 2017 at about 9am, detective attached to ‘D’ Division Lokoja arrested one Abdullahi Bello of Shettima in Lokoja Local Government of Kogi State.

 The arrest followed a tip off that the suspect with others at large broke into the houses of one Emmanuel Baba and Onimi Reuben both of Zango-Daji respectively and made away with several items including one 42 inches Plasma Samsung Television valued at #40,000.00, one 32 inches LG Plasma Television valued at #37,000.00 and a cash sum of #71,000.00.

 The suspect confessed belonging to a notorious syndicate which specializes invading houses in Lokoja to rob.

“Other items recovered from the suspect are two Plasma Television set”.

 The Police further said its operatives busted another syndicate who specializes in snatching of motorcycles within Lokoja.

 It said, “Operatives attached to ‘B’ Division Lokoja, acting on a report received from one Ebilomo Idachaba of Felele, Lokoja that, on 23rd of July, 2017 at about 2.45pm, his Jincheng motorcycle was stolen from where it was parked in the night by unknown persons.

 “The same night at about 2,40am, operatives from the Division promptly swung into action, intercepted and arrested the following suspects: Abdulkadir Abdulramat, Angulu Adulwajid and Oluwale Samson all of Felele in Lokoja Local Government of Kogi State.

 “The two motorcycles, two hammers and other dangerous equipment were recovered from the gang.

 Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Wilson Inalegwu has reiterated the Command’s determination in ensuring adequate security of lives and property in the State.

He urged all police personnel to double their efforts in tracking down the remaining members of the syndicate.

 “Members of the public are urged to continue to volunteer useful information to the Police or any other security Agency on the activities of criminal elements in the State” the statement said.
