Kogi State Police arrest 12 Suspected robbery suspects, Car Jackers, Rustlers; Recover 3 stolen cars, arms and ammunition.

The Kogi State Police Command, in continuation of the implementation of new proactive anti-robbery strategies of its Police Commissioner, CP Wilson Inalegwu, has arrested 12 criminals engaged in armed robbery, kidnapping, carjacking and cattle rustling.

Addressing the media in Lokoja on the successes recorded in the implementation of the new strategies, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Yahaya Abubakar said, “On Arrest of Armed Robbery/Kidnapping Suspects and recovery of Arms, operatives of the Command’ Special Anti-Robbery squad, arrested three Armed Robbery/kidnapping suspects.

“The following assorted weapons were recovered from the gang, One (1) Single Barrel Gun; One Barreta Pistol and Two Live Cartridges while the 3 suspects arrested are Ocheje Echeje, Omaloko Attah and Emmanuel Musa Onalo

Also found in their possession were One (1) English Double Barrel Gun.

For the Carjackers, DCP Abubakar said, “Police arrested an armed robbery /carjacking suspect, Isaiah Ojode and recovered 3 stolen vehicles.

The vehicles and their registration are One (1) Green VW Gulf 3 Saloon Car with Reg. No. Lagos KSF 911 EH; One (1) VW Gulf Car (White Colour), with Reg. No. Kogi AJK 375 AA; and One Toyota Camry Car (Dark Blue Colour), with Reg. No. Lagos SMK 620 DE.

The gave details of the arrest thus, “On the 4th of June 2017, at about 4pm, operatives from SARS, while following a lead during investigation, arrested one Mr. Isaiah Ojode at Olowa town in Dekina LGA.

 He admitted to belonging to a Gang of Car Jacking/Armed Robbery Syndicate that is active in Kaduna and Lagos States. His arrest led to the recovery of the three (3) stolen vehicles listed above.

 He noted that concerted efforts are being made to apprehend his fleeing cohorts emphasizing that the details of these vehicles will be published in the media to enable the owners come forward for identification.

 In the meantime, all the suspects will be arraigned in court immediately, for prosecution.

Meanwhile Abubakar stated that Consequent upon a complaint received from one Ahaji Yahaya Joji of Ibademodu town, in Igalamela area of Odolu LGA, that on 26th of May 2017, unknown armed men invaded his Cattle Ranch and took away twenty of his cows 4 suspected rustler have been arrested.

He said, “Operatives from Special Anti-Robbery Squad arrested the following suspects, who on interrogation admitted being among those involved in the incident.

Four (4) of the cows have been recovered in possession of the suspects (with 2 dead and 2 injured), while efforts are being made to recover remaining ones. They suspects are Yussuf Hussaeini aka ‘O’ Boy, Musa Ibrahim; Odoma Gabriel and Isiyaha Aminu.

Continuing, the Kogi Command said, one Abdullahi Garba, a suspect involved in culpable homicide was arrested over the killing of Falilat Saka.

He said, “On the 30th of May 2017, detectives from the Homicide Section of Okehi Police Division in Okehi LGA, arrested one Mr. Abdullahi Garba, of Ihima in Okehi LGA for the murder of his wife, Mrs. Falilat Saka Garba.

“The case was reported to the Police by Mr. Obavidi Momoh Salami, of Obeiba Area of Ihima, in Okehi LGA.

“The suspect, who admitted to have stabbed the deceased during a heated argument over Housekeeping money, will be arraigned in court for prosecution, as soon as the result of the post-mortem examination is received.

Furthermore, Abubakar disclosed that the command arrested 3 suspects in connection with and recovery of a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

According to him, “On the 27th of May 2017 at about 11am, the Command received Intelligence Report from the good people of Itobe Community, on the activities of armed robbers and Indian Hemp Dealers in the area.

“A cordon and search operation by Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, led to the apprehension of three (3) suspects and the recovery twenty-five (5) large parcels of dried leave substances, weighing about 10kg, all suspected to be Indian hemp.

“The suspects are namely-LawalAGaniyu, Jibrin Idris, and Enemi Salihu, all of them will be arraigned in court for prosecution, as soon as the report of the analysis of the substances is received”.

The Deputy Commissioner on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Kogi State Police Command, CP. Wilson Inalegwu used the opportunity to express appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, IGP. Ibrahim Idris, for his technical and logistical support to the Command.

 “We also commend the efforts of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, for his immense assistance to the Kogi State Police Command” he said.

“While soliciting for more cooperation from the good people of Kogi State, by continuing to provide credible and timely information to the Police, I want to assure them that the Police Command, under leadership of CP. Wilson Inalegwu, will not relent in its efforts in crime prevention and public safety in the State” he added.
