Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, was on Monday in the United Kingdom presented with two outstanding awards, ‘The Certified Master of Anti-Terrorism Specialist Award’ and ‘The Pave The Way Award’, both for exceptional bravery and strategic direction of the war anaint terrorism in Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin countries
Both awards were given by the London based Security Think Tank which hosted the Global Conference on Anti terrorism and Counter terrorism in the Uk.
A state sent from London by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations Col Sagir Musa said the awards were presented after the COAS delivered a lecture on countering terrorism and how it can be successfully replicated in other countries with similar challenges.

It said, “”The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has delivered a lecture entitled – “Nigeria Unique Counter Insurgency – A Working Counter-Terrorism Model For Replication in Africa” at the first ever Global Anti-terrorism and Counter-terrorism Conference and Workshop at the university Square. Stratford, London, United Kingdom on Monday the 17th of June 2019.
“He was presented with two awards by the organizers of the Conference – the Anti-terrorism Accreditation Board (ATAB) and Global Risk International United Kingdom.
“The first award is – The Pave The Way Award for exceptional bravery and peace building in Nigeria and the Lake Chad region under Multinational Joint Task Force which are focal points of DAESH/ISIS.
“The second award is – The Certified Master of Anti-terrorism Specialist Award.
“According to the organizers “Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai is the first African to get this award”.
‘The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs of the Nigerian Army, Major General US Mohammed represented the Chief of Army Staff and received the awards on his behalf.
