Following a massive clampdown on criminals terrorizing Katsina State and environs, as well as raids on their hideouts, the Police in Katsina have arrested several suspects and recovered arms.
“The clampdown on all forms of crime and criminality in Katsina state and on, criminal hideouts will continue with a view to liberating the state and keeping the hoodlums at bay” the Police said.
A statement by ASP Isah Gambo, Public Relations Officer of the Command said, “On 17th of July 2017, at about 12.30am, Katsina State Police Command succeeded in the arrest of one Abdullahi Ibrahim aged 28yrs of Kwado Kambarawa quarters Katsina.
He is a notorious member of Armed Robbery syndicate that has been terrorizing Katsina state and its environs.
“On that fateful day, the syndicate disguised themselves in police uniforms and invaded the house of one Alhaji Haruna Abubakar Mai-Adashi of Farin Yaro Quarters Katsina and robbed him of money the sum of one Million, two hundred and thirty thousand, (N1,230,000:00K).
“It may interest the media to know that during the course of our investigation, suspect has confessed to the commission of the crime and other armed robbery incidents in Katsina and Kaduna states as follows:; Yargoje village, Kankara LGA, Katsina, Funtua, Jibia, Matazu and Kaduna State.

“On 5th of August 2017, Katsina state Police Command succeeded and smashed a notorious gang of armed robbers who blocked the highway at Rumfar Yanki, along Tudun-Iya Gangara road, Funtua LGA, Katsina state.

“On receipt of the report, a police patrol team was immediately dispatched to the scene and met the armed robbers on the road wearing Army uniforms.
“The robbers engaged the police on gun duel and as a result of which one ofthe robbers was shot dead. One locally made wooden toy gun, matchet and bunch of charms was recovered in his possession.
“Searching continued as many were suspected to have escaped with gun shots. Investigation is on progress.
“On 02nd of August 2017, based on a tip-off, the Command also succeeded in the arrest of one Kabiru Saleh of Mahangi village, Kafur LGA, Katsina state, a notorious armed robbery suspect.
“During the course of our investigation one locally made Pistol and six live cartridges were recovered in his possession.
“On the 2nd August 2017, the Command also succeeded in arresting on Shansun Sani alias Officer of Bharim Village, Katsina State, a notorious Motorcycle thief who perpetrates his crime by deceiving unsuspecting members of the public that he is a police officer.
“Suspect was nabbed when he could not satisfactorily account for a motorcycle found in his possession and when a search was conducted in his house, the following items were recovered.
“2 stolen motorcycles, Jingshenng and Boxer unregistered, a complete set of police uniform with force no 267 490, one trouser of Police Mobile Uniform

“However, owners of the motorcycles were traced as Ibrahim Ahmed and Mustapha Ismaila. Receivers of the stolen motorcycles were traced and arrested
“They are Aminu Yusuf, of Kofar Kaura vQuarters and Yahaya Abubakar of Dandagoro Quarters, Batagarawa, Katsina.”
