The Defence Headquarters has alerted Nigerians on the new modus operandi of the rattled Boko Haram terrorists using suicide bombers, attacking worship places at dawn, targeting worshipers and other soft vulnerable places. “The unfortunate suicide attacks in Madagali in Adamawa State and the University of Maiduguri in Borno State are recent occurrences in this direction” it said. A statement by the Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig-General Rabe Abubakar said, “In view of this, the DHQ is reminding our citizens, especially those in the North East, to be conscious of this development and to equally emplace other measures including but not limited to deploying vigilante and other security apparatus during worship session with a view to complimenting the efforts of the military and other security agents. “While the military will continue to maintain high level of security presence in and around North East including stop and search on suspected individuals and vehicles to avert any unforeseen circumstances, public is urged to be extra vigilant, especially in worship places and other vulnerable areas at dawn. “This appeal becomes imperative, especially now that Boko Haram sect has been dislodged from their erstwhile enclaves in Sambisa forest and is now on the loose, constituting threat to our innocent citizens” the Acting DDI said.
