The Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Gold Chibuisi has urged troops deployed in the Lake Chad basin to remain vigilant and ensure the safety/protection of civilian populations.
He revealed this during an operational visit to troops in Baga, Cross Kauwa and Bosso in Sectors 3 and 4 of Nigeria and Niger Republic on Wednesday 14 June 2023.
Military Public Information Officer of MNJTF, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi in a statement said that the Force Commander assured the troops that the MNJTF is committed to providing the necessary support for their operations.
He also encouraged the troops to work collaboratively with other security agencies and local leaders towards ensuring peace and security in the region.
He called on all citizens in the region to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
He added that the MNJTF remains committed to its mandate, and in collaboration with other security agencies adding, “It will continue to protect the citizens, combat insurgency and promote peace and security in the Lake Chad basin region”.
The Force Commander rcoomended the local leaders for their continuous support towards the MNJTF and national operations.
The visit to the Bosso Regional Mayor Arimi Shattima provided an opportunity for him to appeal for more support from local leaders and citizens towards the MNJTF operations.
He acknowledged that a united effort is necessary to combat the threats to peace and security in the region.
