NADCEL 2023: Nigerian Army’s 16 Brigade Conducts Public Speaking Engagements for Secondary School Students in Bayelsa State

16 Brigade Nigerian Army has organized a Public Speaking Engagement to enlighten secondary school students in Bayelsa State on various aspects of the Nigerian Army (NA)
The engagement, which is part of activities organized to commemorate the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2023 within 16 Brigade Area of Responsibility, was held at Government Science and Technical College, Swali, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Monday 3rd July 2023.
The awareness seminar which highlighted various aspects of the NA, was aimed at positively influencing the perceptions, attitudes and behaviour of the students, in favour of the NA.
The Seminar covered a wide gamut of topical issues, focused particularly on the selection and recruitment process into the NA, career opportunities in the NA, the requirements for selection, and Civil-Military Cooperation Projects embarked by the NA.
It also featured a special 24-minute documentary produced by the Directorate of Army Public Relations which succinctly articulated the numerous successes, narratives and key messages, as well as various themes of service in the Army.
Speaking at the Seminar, the Commander 16 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 2 Joint Task Force (South-South) Brigadier General Sadisu Yakasai revealed that the Event had been organized at the behest of the Army Headquarters to showcase the various facets of life, as well as numerous successes of the NA
“This id in line with the robust Civil-Military Cooperation drive of the Chief of Army Staff, Major – General Taoreed Lagbaja, to foster and engender support for the NA in its constitutional mandate of safeguarding the territorial integrity of Nigeria”.
He therefore encouraged the students to consider a worthy and admirable career in the NA in the near future.
He enumerated several benefits of serving in the NA such as job security, opportunities for professional growth, financial stability, access to quality healthcare, and other benefits like travel, housing, and educational opportunities, amongst others.
In his remarks at the Seminar, the Principal of the Government Science Technical College (GSTC), Mr Pedro Igbudu applauded the NA for the Initiative, and appreciated the Brigade Commander for choosing the GSTC to host the event.
He then urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity given to them.
Highlights of the Event were the presentation of the special NA documentary, topical presentations by seasoned resource persons drawn from 16 Brigade, the presentation of souvenirs, educational materials and kits to the GSTC.
