NAF Set to Host Air Forces of Africa, Major Players in 2017 Africa Partnership Flight – Adesanya.

The Nigerian Airforce is to host Air Forces of other nations including those of big Europeans nations and the African continent in the 2017 African Partnership Flight.

Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, who made the disclosure on Saturday at a Radio Nigeria Interview programme, noted that playing host to the Air Force of other nations will help the NAF build a strong and transparent partnership to enhance regional stability and security, through formal alliances and exchange of information.

According to Air Commodore Adesanya, Nigeria will also benefit from synergizing with the United States as well as African partner nations towards improving air knowledge which will in turn help foster regional security.

Adesanya who is also a certified aircraft engineering specialist disclosed that the NAF through the active support of the Federal Government, has moved the serviceability of its aircrafts from about 30 percent to about 70 per cent within the past two years

He emphasized that Aircraft Serviceability status is very critical to an Air Force particularly at a period that it was driving the airpower domination of the war on insurgency, adding that the NAF has also tried to localize most of its trainings.

On the reportage of the roles being played in the war on terror, Adesanya expressed dismay over the poor publicity of NAF activities saying more needed to be done to serve as motivation for fighting pilots and ground troops of the NAF in the fight against insurgency.

His words, “Air Force activities in the ongoing insurgency have unfortunately been largely under reported.

“One thing that I will plead with Nigerians to understand is that the nature of asymmetric warfare which is what this fight is all about is such that it is always protracted but the NAF have always been actively involved”.

Describing the ongoing insurgency is tragic development, Adesanya stated however that the Nigerian Air Force has functioned well in the area of airpower pointing out that the NAF was currently experiencing a new dawn in its operations.
