The Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Idi Amin has declared open the Maiden Intra-Command Research and Development Competition held at the Conference Hall of the 405 HCTG Enugu.
While declaring the completion open, the AOC said R & D is necessary to build capacity and induce local production of aircraft spares and other critical equipment needed for continuous operations of the NAF.
Consequently the NAF intends to produce in Mass, some research products which have reached advanced level.
This technical feat according to the AOC was made possible through the leadership of the Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar.

The AOC reveal that the competition is aimed at bringing together the units to showcase their R & D projects in a way of further encouraging NAF personnel in the unit to look inwards, be innovative and resourceful while carrying out their assigned duties.
Additionally it is to promote total quality management and technical advancement and maintenance of NAF total platforms and equipment thus saving much foreign exchange for the country.
The underlisted units are represented at the competition.
They are
a. Military Training Centre (MTC)
b. Regiment Training Centre (RTC)
c. NAFSFA Badagary
d. NAFH Jos
e. 553 BSG Enugu
