In continuation of its vow to checkmate theft of the nation’s oil and illegal bunkering activities, the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Delta on Monday handed over a vessel, MV Mama Elizabeth I, arrested with 100,000 litres of illegal diesel in Excravos, Warri, to the Delta State office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Speaking at during the handing over of the vessel on Sunday at the Delta Shipyard, Executive Officer, NNS Delta, Captain Adeyemi Adewuyi said the vessel was arrested with eight crew members on March 15 this year.

“MV Mama Elizabeth I was arrested for conveying product without approval” he said.

“This morning (Sunday April 7) we have been directed to hand over the vessel and the crew members, including the Captain to the EFCC for prosecution”, he noted.

While enjoining those engaged maritime crimes to refrain from it, the EXO said the Navy will not relent in its war against oil theft and related crimes.

“We will investigate, look at the source, prosecute” he said.

Mr. ThankGod Ojuyaima (a suspect) who described himself as the Captain of the vessel claimed that he was not aware the vessel was convening illegal product when asked for comment by newsmen.
