Navy smash illegal oil siphoning ring in Warri; discover massive Canvas Storage Pit with 1, 500 metric tons of stolen crude oil.

 
Operatives of Nigerian Navy Ship Delta have raided and smashed a massive storage site where illegal oil siphoning activities thrives at Ugborede Creek in Warri South Local Government area and arrested two suspects engaged in the criminal act.
 
Authorities of NNS Delta, Warri disclosed that personnel of the Special Boat Service were deployed in 3 Gunboats and a Speedboat as back up for the operation
 
During the raid, led by the Commander, NNS Delta, Commodore Ibrahim Dewu, a Carnavas Wooden Storage pit laden with 1, 500 metric tons of crude oil product was discovered.
 
The stolen crude oil was siphoned from an oil Well head connected with a 4 inch metal pipe of about 100meters in length, used by the illegal refinery operators.
    
 Confirming the arrest and discovery of the illegal refining of the crude site, Commodore Dewu said, “Following intelligence by operatives of NNS Delta about the activities of economic saboteurs, on 14 March 2017, at about 9. 10am, our patrol team departed with 3 Gunboats and a speedboat to Ugbodede creek, Warri South LGA of Delta state.
 
“The team which was led by Commander NNS DELTA, Commodore IA Dewu accompanied by journalists accessed the Carnvas wooden storage boat laden with about 1500MT of product suspected to be crude oil which was connected to a Well head.
 
“The Well head was connected with a 4″ Metal pipe of about 100m length used by the illegal refinery operators.
 
At about 12. 40pm, the 100m 4″ metal pipe with the coupling was disconnected from the Well head, before the team raided the community and destroyed suspected materials used in the illegal refinery activities along with the canvas storage pit.
 
 “However, 2 men were arrested from the community and the head of the 4″pipe coupling was retrieved.”
