New Brigade Commander 26 Task Force Brigade takes over; as Troops nab Boko Haram kingpin

 The new Brigade Commander, 26 Task Force Brigade, Gwoza, Brigadier General Ifiok Obot has formally taken over command in Borno State. 
 
He assumed command just as troops of 233 Battalion of 27 Task Force Brigade stationed at Forward Operation Base Potiskum in conjunction with vigilantes on Sunday, arrested a suspected notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Abubakar Adamu, aged 35 years, popularly called “Pepper” around New Prison area, Potiskum, Potiskum Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State. 
 
Brigadier General Obot took over from his predecessor Brigadier General Adeyinka Laguda who is on posting to Army Headquarters Garrison, Abuja as Chief of Staff.
 
The new Brigade Commander was presented with the Brigades’ flag by his predecessor after signing the handing and taking over notes during the ceremony at the Brigade Headquarters in Gwoza.
 
General Obot hails from Abak Local Government in Akwa Ibom State and is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College in Abuja. 
 
Until his recent appointment, he served at Army Headquaters Garrison, Abuja as Chief of Staff.
 
In the meantime, preliminary investigation into the arrest of the Boko Haram kingpin showed that the suspected terrorist hailed from Yerimara village, Potiskum LGA and that he has participated in carrying out attacks and other terrorists activities in the north east.
 
Investigation is still ongoing. 
 
Also, combined troops of 231and 331 Battalions foiled an armed robbery attempt at Chanchara village, Shani LGA.
 
A statement signed by Brigadier General Sani Usman said, “The troops recovered an AK-47 Rifle, machetes and ammunition.”
