New Passports: NIS Comptroller General directs communication of new reforms to General Public.

Sequel to the Official launch of the new e-passports by President Muhammadu
Buhari recently at the State House in Abuja,the Comptroller General of Nigeria immigration service, Muhammad Babandede has directed that the approved passport reforms be communicated to the public for proper information and sensitization.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Nigeria immigration service public relations officer DCI Sunday James and made available to news men in Abuja.

The statement said the passport reforms include the introduction of new enhanced passport booklet and passport with ten year validity.

The statement further said the category of passports and approved fees included the 32 page with five year standard passport at the cost of twenty five thousand naira or one hundred and thirty dollars for overseas,the 64 page five year standard passport is thirty five thousand naira or one hundred and eighty dollars for oversea,while that of 64 page ten year standard passport is seventy thousand naira or two hundred and thirty dollars for oversea application.

The other category according to the statement is that of 32 page five year Official passport cost fifteen thousand naira only.

The new passport reforms has enormous advantages which comprise passport with ten year validity, self-tracking of application and express centers for urgent application.

The existing passport booklet will run concurrently with the new enhanced
passport booklet until the former expires, as the issuance of the new passport is scheduled to commence at the service headquarters before the end of the first quarter of this year.

The Comptroller General Muhammad Babandede later called on all Nigerians to take advantage of the reforms, avoid patronizing third party or touts and utilize the online platforms
provided by the Service for their passport application.
