Nigerian Army Combat Service Support Corps Begin Training Exercise with Medical Outreach for Many in Lagos; It’s aimed at Improving Health Conditions in Host Communities – COAS, Gen Lagbaja

The Combat Support Services of the Nigerian Army comprising Nigerian Army Supply and Transport Corp, Ordinance Corp, Medical Corp and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corp on Monday, 19 August 2024, commenced its joint training exercise in Lagos with a medical outreach that will benefits scores Lagosians

Towards this end, the Support services who are the pillars on logistics, mobility and technical endurance of the NA embarked on the provision of free health succour to the good people of Makoko Community in Yaba, Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

Speaking at the flag off of the training week, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by the Commander Corps of Engineers, Major General Philip Eromosele, said the medical outreach is part of the COAS social responsibility activities to give back to the community.

He stated that the activity was aimed at improving the health conditions within the host communities and assisting the less privilege people, which is carried out periodically across NA formations and unit’s area of responsibility.

As part of the medical outreach, donation and presentation of two wheel chairs were made to disabled people in order to aid their mobility.

In his opening remarks, the Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CCEME) Major General Baba Umaru Yahaya on behalf of the Combat Service Corps reiterated the importance of the medical outreach to the host community.

He said it Is with a view to improve civil military relations with the aim of gaining their support in fighting security challenges plaguing the country.

He disclosed that the activities are in tandem with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy.

Major General Yahaya implored all the beneficiaries to take maximum advantage of the medical outreach, be it check-up complaints and all forms of medical consultations and administrations

Expressing his appreciation, his Royal Highness Oba Sulaiman Owolabi Ogunloko Ade-Ori Okin II, the Olu of Iwaya, commended the Nigerian Army for providing medical succour to his community at a challenging time in the country

He said it was indeed a commendable effort by the NA which they would take advantage of to relieve medical problems of his people in the community.
