Nigerian Army engage/repel Boko Haram terrorists in Matele, Northern Borno

Gallant troops of Nigerian Army were on Monday night locked in fierce battle with scores of Boko Haram terroridts who attempted to over run northen Borno town of Matele but were repelled.

A news flash from the Army’s website said, “Troops of 157 Battalion Metele in Northern Borno are presently engaging BHTs in a fierce gun battle.

“The BHT have been repelled and reinforcement of men and materiel have been mobilized from Kangarwa and Arege.”

Also, the Army said troops of Sector 3 Operation Lafiya Dole deployed at Mairari in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force while on routine patrol in Mairari and environs on Sunday 7 October 2018 encountered suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

A member of the Boko Haram terrorists was neutralised while several others fled into nearby bushes with gunshot injuries during the encounter.

Items recovered include:One AK47 rifle, 4 Magazines, One 36 Hand Grenade, 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Unfortunately, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force sustained gunshot wound and has since been evacuated to Sector 3 medical facility for attention.

The public is therefore advised to report any suspicious movements or activities in their area to security agency for prompt action.
