Nigerian Army’s Successes in War against Insurgency/Terrorism Earns (COAS), Lt. Gen Buratai African Leadership Magazine Award in South Africa.

In recognition of the immense role being played by the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the sub-region, it has been invited to make a presentation at the Exclusive Session of the 7th Edition of the African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa from 22-23rd February 2019.

The session which focuses on Security would afford the Nigerian Army the rare opportunity to make presentation to over 250 leading Chief Executive Officers, key Policy makers, businessmen and women and investors across the African continent and beyond.

A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sagir Musa noted that “This year’s event will revolve around three main issues on the African continent; Security, Investment and Job creation”.

“Similarly, in a letter jointly signed by Ambassador Joe Beasley, the Chair of the African Leadership Magazine Advisory Board and the Publisher/Chief Executive Officer of African Leadership Magazine, Doctor Ken Giami, on behalf of the Selection Committee of the African Leadership Magazine, the Chief of Army Staff, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai will be given Special African Leadership Commendation Award for his efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity, at the event.

The African Leadership Magazine’s Persons of the Year annual Award is given to those African leaders that distinguished themselves in the professional, business or administrative endeavours and blazed trail in the year under review.

Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai will be presented with the award alongside other African business and political leaders.

Other winners in different categories according to the advisory board include, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Doctor Abiy Ahmed Ali, Nigeria’s Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, and the owner of Oriental Energy, Alhaji Muhammad Indimi.

Also to receive awards are President of Tanzania, Mr. John Pombe Magafuli, the Chairman of Heirs Holdings and renowned Philanthropist, Mr. Tony Elumelu and Botswana’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Bogolo Joy Kenewendo.
