The Commissioner of Police, Delta state Command, CP Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim has warned armed youths of Ogbe-Ijaw and Aladja communities to lay down their arms or security agents would have no other option than to unleash the full weight of the law against them.
In the same vein, the CP also warned that traditional rulers, Community and Youth Leaders in Ukwuani local government area will be held liable for untoward happenings in their areas henceforth.
Speaking against the outbreak of violent confrontation between Ogbe-Ijaw and Aladja communities as well as communities in Ukwuani local government area of the state, the Commissioner of Police wondered why the people of the area could not appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of the state government, the police and other security agents towards restoring lasting peace to the two communities.
“While noting that security has been reinforced in the affected areas of Ogbe-Ijaw and Aladja leading to the restoration of peace in the affected area”, the CP called “on the belligerent youths to drop their arms forthwith and embrace the path of peace”.
He warned that the command will not condone and attack on security personnel and law abiding citizens of the area henceforth, reiterating that enough is enough.

In another statement signed by DSP Aniamaka Andrew, PPRO, Delta Police Command entitled ‘Calls for cessation of hostilities in Ukwuani LGA’, the CP warned that Traditional Rulers, Community and Youth Leaders will be held liable for untoward happenings in their areas henceforth.
It said, “As part of ongoing deliberate efforts tailored towards achieving and sustaining peace among the neighbouring warring communities of Amai, Eziorkpo, Obiaruku and Umuebu inUkwani local government area of Delta state, the Commissioner of Police, delta state command, CP Ibrahim zanna has called for a cessation of hostilities by all and sundry, especially the youths of each of the community.
“The CP called on the traditional rulers, community and youth leaders to harken to the earnest entreaties of the governor of the state to have all abductees including the Novena university student, released within a week, jettison rumour mongering and the spreading of falsehood, and to encourage every measure that would bring about a lasting peace in the area.
“The CP however warned that henceforth, traditional rulers, community and youth leaders will be held liable for any untoward happenings in their area.
“While noting that security has been beefed up in the affected area, the CP has advised communities to go about their businesses unmolested and to avoid the disputed areas until the government takes the appropriate decisions in respect of the issues.”
