Ogun Police arrest 18 year old boy, 2 others for fake kidnap

Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested an 18yrs old boy Adeboye Micheal and two of his friends Nafiu Ojo and Abdullahi Lawal for faking his kidnap in other to extort money from his master.

The arrest of the trio followed a complaint lodged at Oke-Itoku Police Station by one Oluwoju Ojo Abioidun who reported that he sent his apprehentice Adeboye Micheal to bank in order to deposit the sum of #500,000 only for him to receive a call after some hours that the boy has been kidnapped and that he should send the sum of one million naira for his release.

He started further that the acclaimed kidnappers told him that he only need to balance them with the sum of #500,000 with him already.

Upon the report, the case was transferred to Anti-Kidnapping section in Eleweran after a preliminary investigation at Oke-Itoku.

The men of Anti-kidnapping section subsequently embarked on a technical based investigation and when the suspects discovered that their game will soon be up, the acclaimed victim emerged with series of story on his fake abduction.

Unknown to him that the Police are on the trail of his so called abductor two days after, the duo of Nafiu Ojo and Abdullahi Lawal were tracked down and apprehended on the 13th Dec, 2018.

On interrogation, they narrated how Adeboye Micheal contracted them to act as kidnappers and put a call through to his boss in order to make away with the #500,000 in his possession.

Upon their confession, the said Adeboye Micheal ‘m’ was subsequently arrested. He made a confessional statement that he only lodged in an hotel with two girls where he squandered his boss money which he supposed to deposit at the bank.

The leftover of #120,000 being part of the money was recovered from him.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Cp Ahmed Iliyasu has directed that the suspect be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as the investigation is concluded.
