Two members of the armed robbery gang who shot and injured the Divisional Police Officer of Ogbere Division, CSP Adeyinka Akingbade have been arrested by operatives of FSARS working in conjunction with Police from Ogun Command.
The DPO who received a distress call about the robbers who invaded an Hotel in Itele-Ijebu, led his men to the scene but was ambushed by the armed robbers who shot him severally at close range.
On receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu gave a marching order to the officer in-charge FSARS, DSP Uba Adam to fish out the hoodlums within 24hrs.
The Federal SARS team swung into action immediately and their effort paid off after six hours when the hideout of the robbers was located.

A statement by ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Public Relations officer, said on behalf of the CP that “On sighting the Policemen, the robbers engaged them in a gun battle which lasted for about an hour.
“At the end of the encounter, two of the robbers namely:- Wasiu Ganiyu and Azeez Komolafe were arrested while the leader of the gang simply known as Mungo Park was shot dead.
“And others escaped with bullet wound. Recovered from them are two AK47 riffles with 120 rounds of ammunition”.
”The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu who was highly elated about the gallantry displayed by FSARS men appealed to members of the public, especially hospitals to report anybody seen with gunshot wound to the Police.
He also prayed for quick recovery of the DPO who he described as one of the best performing DPOs in the Command.
