Oil Theft: Air Chief Meets Gov Oborevwori; Urges United Effort to Flush Out Criminals in Delta State

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasized the need for a collaborative effort to rid Delta State and its environs of criminal elements, as well as promoting effective civil-military cooperation for the socio-economic benefit of all.
The CAS made this call on Wednesday during a meeting with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba, Delta State.
A statement by the Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said, the CAS stressed that a peaceful environment is crucial for meaningful development.
He urged the people of Delta State to continue supporting security agents in their efforts to combat criminality.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to security and his support for the Armed Forces, particularly the NAF.
Air Marshal Abubakar expressed gratitude for the allocation of 66.6 hectares of land and its Certificate of Occupancy at Osubi for the development of a full-fledged NAF Base, a significant milestone in the history of Delta State and NAF relations.
Governor Oborevwori praised the NAF’s dedication to fighting insecurity and acknowledged the strong partnership between Delta State and the NAF.
He assured the CAS that his administration will commence construction of the road leading to the allocated land and promised to allocate additional land for a Post-Service Housing Scheme for retiring NAF personnel.
He also condemned the unfortunate incident at Okuama Village in March 2024, which resulted in the loss of lives of some Nigerian Army personnel.
The visit culminated in the presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy for the 66.6 hectares of land at Osubi by the Governor to the CAS.
