The Commander NNS Delta, Commodore Ibrahim Dewu on Wednesday handed two vessels and a large wooden boat, arrested for oil bunkering to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for prosecution.
The vessels are registered SD WATERMAN and MN NIPAL.
Also handed over to the EFCC, Benin Zonal Office, were 22 suspects who assisted in perpetrating the economic crime and sabotage.
Confirming the arrest and hand over, Commodore Dewu said, “SD WATERMAN and MV NIPAL were arrested on Sunday 19th May 2019 by a NNS Delta patrol team.

“Two vessels, a large wooden boat and 22 suspects were handed over to some representatives of the Benin Zonal Office of the EFCC led by Mr. Richard Ogberagha at the Base Jetty for further investigation and prosecution”.
“It would be recalled that the Vessels and crew members were arrested on Sunday 19 May 2019 by NNS Delta patrol team for engaging in illegal bunkering activities with 2 large wooden boats Offshore Eacravos.
“During the handing over process, samples of products were taken from the vessels for laboratory test by reps of the DPR.
“The handing over process was concluded at about 11. 15 am and the EFCC team departed the Base with the suspects at about 12pm”.
