Oil Theft: Ops Delta Sanity, Discovers, Deactivates Illegal Refining Site in Delta State

Special Forces of the Nigerian Navy’s Operation Delta Sanity fighing against economic saboteurs have successfully discovered and deactivated an illegal refining site in the Ajomo community, Warri Local Government Area of Delta State.

A Navy statement said personnel from the Forward Operating Base ESCRAVOS, in a daring operation, on Wednesday uncovered the refining site, which had three ovens, a wooden boat, and a substantial amount of crude oil and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

The statement added that the operation was part of its ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta region.

The Navy reiterated its commitment to protecting the nation’s economic assets and ensuring the security of the maritime domain, Enugu Reporters noted.

‘The discovery and deactivation of the illegal refining site is a significant achievement in the fight against oil theft, which has been a long-standing challenge in the region” it said.

“The Nigerian Navy’s unwavering dedication to this cause is a testament to its unrelenting fight against crude oil theft and its commitment to the economic prosperity of Nigeria.

“The Navy’s efforts have resulted in the recovery of significant quantities of stolen crude oil and petroleum products, disrupting the illegal oil trade and reducing its negative impact on the environment and the economy.

“The Nigerian Navy’s Operation Delta Sanity is a continuation of its efforts to safeguard the nation’s maritime interests and ensure the security of the Niger Delta region.

“The Navy remains resolute in its mission to protect the nation’s economic assets and maintain the security of the maritime domain.”
