Operation Safe Domain III: ZONE E Member States to Sustain Gains of 4-Days Joint Operations.

The Nigerian Navy on Friday disclosed that the closing ceremony of Operation Safe Domain III took place on August 9, 2024, at the Naval Base Jetty in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The operation showcased effective utilization of assets, platforms, and personnel from participating nations: DB Abuja, NNS Kano, BNS AliboriI, and TNS Agou conducting various maritime operations.
It marked the end of the 5-day exercise but the continuation of the joint operation, aimed at securing the maritime domain and to combat maritime threats in Zone E member states.
Commodore Aniedi Aniedu Ibok, Director of the Multinational Maritime Coordination Center, highlighted the operation’s achievements and emphasized the importance of harmonizing communication systems and involving Maritime Operational Centers (MOCs) in future operations.
He announced plans for a conference to enhance interoperability among operators.
Captain I. Udoessien, Commanding Officer of DB Abuja, noted the operation’s overall success despite communication challenges and technical disruptions.
He recommended continued investment in advanced surveillance technology, strengthening communication infrastructure, and regular joint exercises to improve maritime security.
