Troops of the Nigerian Army especially those serving in Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East were honoured for their gallantry in the fight against insurgency on Thursday 7 Feb 2019.
The honour was bestowed on these deserving heroes by the Nigeria Indonesia Commercial Association (nica) in partnership with Chief Executive Clubs Nigeria during the The Civilian Armed Services Appreciation and Recognition Award Night 2019.
The event was held at the Rockview Hotel Royale, Wuse 2 , Abuja.
Dignitaries in attendance included the former military administrator of Benue state Col Paul Emeruah and several foreign diplomats.

In his remarks the the Executive Secretary of NICA Dr Elvis Enyioko said the sacrifices made by men of the Nigerian Army deserves commendation and it was only proper for Nigerians to appreciate them.
Brig Gen SB Kumapayi who represented the COAS conveyed the COAS appreciation for this recognition and gesture shown to the Nigerian Army adding that personnel of the Nigerian Army will be spurred to give more.

In addition the COAS was also given an award for his sterling leadership of the Nigerian Army since assumption of office.
