PDP raises alarm over soldiers’ alleged abduction of Rivers Education Commissioner, Gogo Jaja; taken to unknown destination

Ahead of Saturday’s governorship and state elections, a group of soldiers led by an Army Major Mustapha Bello from a unit in Sokoto state acting on the directive of the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi have on Wednesday abducted the Rivers state Commissioner for Education Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja and taken him to an unknown destination.

Reports reaching the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, election monitoring unit at the party’s headquarters in Abuja shows that Major Bello who led the operation was sent specifically to Port Harcourt, Rivers state for the job.

A statement by the Directorate of PDP Election Monitoring Unit said, ‘The troops of military that carried out the illicit operations were led to the operation by Hon. Amaechi who gave directive as to who and who to abduct.

“Reports indicate that similar operations are going on with specific assigned officers in Akwa Ibom, Bayelesa and Delta state that the ruling APC has lined up for capture in Saturday’s Governorship and state assembly elections.

“The PDP notes that the development is in line with earlier intelligence it got to which the party National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus led a public protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja on Tuesday.

“According to the party, the agenda is to truncate the election in those states if they fail to rig the way they already designed it in Favour of the APC.

“The PDP election monitoring unit is therefore alert the public, the media and the international community of the pre election intimidation and harassment which is a prelude action designed to manipulate the elections”.
