POCACOV at GOU Secondary School; Urges Students to Shun Peer Pressure on Cultism

Students have been advised to know the kind of friends they keep in order not to run into temptation of being pressured into bad group.

This advise was made by the Enugu state police public Relations officer SP Ebere Amaraizu on the occasion of school campaign against cultism and other social vices held at the auditorium of Godfrey Okoye university secondary school thinkers corner Enugu.

Amaraizu also charged them to be each other’s best friend and be confident of what they are doing and believing in themselves.

“When you are not friendly with yourselves, not confident and not believing in yourself, you are bound to be pressured by your peer who takes advantage of that to mislead you”, stressed Amaraizu.

He also advised them to speak out by reporting to their parents and guardians as well as their teachers about any pressure on them.

SP Anaraizu further hinted that the inspector General of Police, Adamu Abubakar Mohammed has directed that school and community campaign against cultism and other vices be deployed through out schools and communities through police campaign against cultism and other vices (Pocacov) for a safe and secured environment.

Speaking earlier, the state intervention lead of the Nigeria policing programme Solomon Akpanufot had thanked the command for the visit all school programme of the police campaign against cultism and other vices and maintained will continue to partner stake holders and security agencies for a safe and secured environment.

Both Rev sisters Martina Ene the principal and Mary Tenderlya U ugwu the guidance and counsellor thanked the police and the Nigeria policing programme for such wonderful gestures which is geared towards enriching school children for greater tomorrow and urged students to make do with what they learned.
