Meanwhile, In line with the ongoing Nationwide campaign of POCACOV, the IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has implored youths to take advantage of the ongoing nationwide campaign of the police against cultism, associated violence and vices to retrace their step and become good citizens of the country and also be meaningful to themselves.

He noted that  cultism, associated violence and vices are like evil wind that blows no body any good in view of its inherent dangers.

He spoke through the national coordinator of (POCACOV) CSP Ebere Amaraizu on the violent clash that erupted last Sunday between some unruly fans of Abia Warriors football club of Umuahia and Enyimba international football club of Aba during the Nigeria professional football league match week 20 played at Umuahia sports stadium which left some injured including chief Felix Anyansi Agwu the general manager of Enyimba international football club as the hauling of stones and plastics rages.

According to Amaraizu, such recource to violence in football which is a unifying factor amongst fans does not pass that message of unity and peace which football signifies hence he condemned the act which he also described as barbaric pointing out that football and the entire sports remains a veritable instrument of peace and unity.

He advised fans  who are mainly youth to channel their energy to positivism rather than violence and called on the league management company of Nigeria to take necessary action on those that erred to serve as a deterrent and repetition of such situation in match centers .

The National coordinator POCACOV similarly condemn in its entirety and described as barbaric the alleged incident of cult clash within the week under review at a viewing center opposite Benue state university 2nd gate which allegedly resulted in the killing of one Shija a final year mass communication student of the institution .

“It is is unfortunate that this final year student of mass communication who would have contributed his quota positively to the growth and development of the society had died this way” CSP Amaraizu said even as he charged youth to resist any temptation to join any cult group in order to become that champion of their dream .
