The Police Intelligence Response Team on Saturday smashed a notorious car snatching and armed robbery syndicate operating at the Nigerian-Benin border.
Five (5) of the gang members who rob and snatch cars in Ogun and Lagos states for onward trans-border sales were nabbed in the process
A Police said, “On Saturday 23rd June IRT busted a notorious gang of Trans-Border Armed robbers who specialized in robbing cars at Nigeria/Benin Republic border and selling the cars in Benin Republic.
The IRT also recovered an AK47 Rifle hidden under the seat of their operational motorcycle.
It said, “In follow up to several complaints of car snatching within Lagos and Ogun borders shared with Benin Republic and subsequent directives from IGP Ibrahim Idris, Special IRT teams were deployed to the border to bring the armed robbers to Justice.

“After 2 weeks of unrelenting follow up, on Friday 22nd June 2018, Five (5) of the notorious car robbers operating on Bike in absolute disguise were arrested by IRT operatives at the border.
Suspects Arrested are Femi Adegbile 29yrs from Ologuneru LGA Oyo state, John Ajayi 41yrs, native of Benin republic, Ajayi Kamoru 47yrs native of Benin republic, Emil Goduo 34yrs native of Benin Republi and Saheed Shosanya 27yrs native of Odeda LGA Ogun State.
“A blue motorcycle with their operational Ak47 Rifle hidden under the seat was recovered together with the Ak47 rifle and 2 magazines fully loaded with 60 rounds of live Ammunition.
“Suspects confessed to multiple car snatchings and many armed robberies along the Nigeria/Benin Border while disguising as normal Okada Riders.
“Serious efforts to arrest remaining gang members in Progress.”
