Police parade 48 Kidnappers/Armed Robbers, Rustlers & Car Snatchers Terrorizing FCT-Niger-Kaduna-Plateau-Katsina States; Recover fake dollar equivalent-N490million.

The Police in continuation of Operation Absolute Sanity to clear armed robbers, kidnappers, cattle rustlers, car snatchers and other criminals terrorizing people and road users along the Abuja-Kaduna-Niger-Katsina-Plateau highways, have arrested 48 suspects and recovered large number of arms and ammunition.

 

An illegal arms fabricating factory operated by gangs in Bosso, Niger State was also smashed.

 

Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood who paraded the suspects in Bosso said the suspects were arrested for crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, cattle rustling and fabrication of locally made prohibited/illegal firearms.

 

“They have confessed to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crime” he said adding “Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the gangs still at large.

 

“All suspects would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

 

ACP Moshood called on members of the public whose vehicles were either stolen from where parked or snatched at gun point in the recent times to proceed to the Niger State Police Headquarters for identification and collection with documents of proof of ownership.

Exhibit’s recovered from the various gangs are 35 Exotic Cars, 5 AK47 Rifles, 3 Pump Action Guns, 2 Single Barrel Guns, 3 SMG rifles, 1 Revolver Pistol, 2 Locally Made Pistols, 822 Rounds of AK47 ammunition, 68 9MM ammunition, 4 Live Cartridges.

 

Others are 5 Plasma TV Sets, 1 Home Theatre Radio, 7 Vehicle Trackers Demobilizes, 7 Wrist Watches, 2 Laptops, 22 Women Wrappers, 4 Different Vehicle Number Plates, 1 Standing Fan, Huge Sums of suspected fake US Dollars equivalent to about N490 Million

 

The FPRO said the Crime prevention and control strategies adopted by the Nigeria Police Force in the recent time to reduce violent crimes in the country remain unwavering.

 

He pointed out that efforts of the Force to protect lives and property of all Nigerians across the country and nip in the bud all forms of crimes and criminality has continued to yield positive results.

 

“In addition to the pursuance of the above, the IGP, Ibrahim K. Idris directives on 21st February, 2018 to the Commissioners of Police and their Supervising Assistant Inspectors General of Police for the commencement of disarmament, mopping up, seizure and recovery from wrong hands; prohibited and other illegal firearms and ammunition, weapons and devices, locally fabricated or modified that can cause death or injury of person(s) is currently ongoing throughout the country.

 

He added that the renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to guarantee protection of Lives and Property across the country remains unequivocal.
