The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, Alhaji Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police has assured that the on-going recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force will be transparent, thorough and merit driven.
Smith, who has so far visited six states within two weeks of the commencement of the screening exercise of the shortlisted applicants, was happy that the exercise nationwide has been going on smoothly without hitches with the other Commissioners of the Commission also traversing states in their geo-political zones to ensure that the exercise was not only credible but structured to ensure the emergence of the best materials.
Alhaji Smith spoke in Abuja on Tuesday, July 16th, 2019, when he received in audience the new Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah, who came to solicit for the Chairman’s support and valuable advice in the area of ensuring lasting peace and stability in the University.
The Chairman explained that the Commission is aware of the security challenges in the country, stressing that the recruitment of competent and qualified 10,000 Nigerian Children as Constables, will go a long way in strengthening the Police Force and ensure improvement in the capability to better police the country.
He assured the Vice Chancellor of his support and readiness to offer valuable advice whenever necessary.
Earlier, Prof. Na’allah opined that the appointment of Alhaji Smith at this critical period was no doubt, a choice that would contribute to ensuring sustained progress in the efforts to stabilize the security of the nation.
He therefore solicited for his support and noted that as the only Federal Government University in the nation’s capital, his administration will always strive to make worthwhile contributions that will promote peace and progress in our nation.
