Police Recruitment: Text Messages to Anyaoku, Ihedioha, others, not from me – Okiro.

The Police Service Commission has disowned alleged text messages to prominent Nigerians asking them to send two names to the Chairman of the Commission, Sir, Mike Mbama Okiro, for recruitment as Cadet Inspectors into the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commission said, “the  text messages dubiously sent on a ‘planted’ Mike Okiro telephone number, has recently been sent to former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Sir Emeka Anyaoku , former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and a prominent traditional ruler in Lagos State.
“The Commission Chairman has not sent any text message to anybody asking for names for recruitment into the Police” a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, spokesman said.
The recruitment, according to him has since been completed and successful candidates undergoing training in different Police Colleges in the country.
“The Chairman said he has been inundated with calls from prominent Nigerians who have received such messages and feels embarrassed at the level these fraudsters can go to dent his hard earned image” he added.
Dr. Okiro said the Commission has directed the Police to fish out the source of this criminal activity and to bring to book any body found to be directly or indirectly involved in this fraudulent act.
 “He wishes to warn Nigerians to desist from embarrassing acts such as this, as culprits will be made to face the full weight of the law”.
It would be recalled that the 2016 recruitment into the different cadres of the Nigeria Police Force has since been concluded.
