Police smash 11-man Kidnap Gang; rescue Chairman, Gateway Insurance and Former Chairman, PAN; free other victims.

 
Aftermath the kidnapping last week of Alhaji Isa Ozi Salami, Chairman of Gateway Insurance and former Chairman, Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria, by a notorious kidnap gang, the Police in Abuja have arrested a notorious 11 man gang responsible and rescued the victims.
The feat was performed by IGP’s Intelligence Response Team led by ACP Abba Kyari who busted the gang’s hideout in Suleija.
Among members of the deadly gang is a dismissed officer of the Department of State Service (DSS), 35 year old Abdulrasheed Maigari, who confessed to be one of the gang members that robbed a Bureau de Change operator of the sum of N310million allegedly belonging to a Senator and meant for conversion to dollars last year.
The kidnappers were arrested at a hideout in Suleija with Police sources disclosing that the two flats where kidnap victims of the gang and their arms are kept, was rented by the former DSS officer.
Briefing the media on the arrest of the gang, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood said, “Sequel to the IGP’s directive on the kidnap of Alhaji Ozi Salami, former Chairman PAN, MD Nigeria Paper Mills, Jebba and Chairman, Gateway Insurance, operatives of the IGP Intelligence Response Team jointly with Anti-Kidnap Squad of FCT Police Command swung into action.
“After five (5) days of painstaking and sustained surveillance, successfully arrested eleven (11) members of the vicious kidnappers”.
Sources had disclosed that the kidnap gang was responsible for several kidnappings including that of 2 ladies who were abducted in Wuse, detained in Mpape, with N3million ransom collected and their car, a jeep taken to Sokoto for sale.
The also gang confessed to be behind the abduction of a lady in Abuja (names with-held) and collected ransom of N1million.
Furthermore, the gang said they were responsible for the abduction of a couple in Gwagwalada and that the kidnap operation yielded a ransom payment of N7million.  
Disclosing that the Police arrested them is several operations and took them to court for prosecution, the gang members said they normally spend between 2 and 3 months in jail after which they are granted bail, and they continue the vicious activities.
Those arrested and paraded are Kelvin Emeka, a Bsc Holder from Imo state University (leader),Ndubuisi Prince Ozor, Abdulrasheed Maigari, Sunday Tyavnor, Zayor Alfred, Avah Joseph, Gabriel Friday, Rajab Baba Ishiaka, Ali Sani, Nuhu Sule and Muhammed Abubakar.
“Abdulrasheed Maigari, a 2006 graduate of Political Science of Bayero University, Kano, was recruited into DSS as a graduate officer in September 2011 and was dismissed and charged to court last November 2015 for robbing N310million with some dismissed army personnel in Abuja. He became the coordinator of the gang” the Police said.
Items recovered from the gang include one AK 47 rifle, 3 AK 47 magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, 2 pistols, 14 rounds of 9mm live ammunition while the 2-bedroom flats at different locations in Suleija will be considered as exhibits.
