In line with the Presidential directive for eradication of polio from Nigeria and Borno State, 7 Division Nigerian Army has assured of necessary support for the immunization of children in the hinterland within the Division’s Area of Responsibility in Borno State.
The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf gave this assurance during a courtesy call on him by the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA) at the Headquarters of the Division in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State.
He commended the agency for their zeal and commitment towards eradication of Polio in Nigeria.
He described polio virus as an enemy of mankind which has rendered millions of people handicapped around the globe.

Brigadier General Yusuf pledged to provide all necessary security support needed to access children within the Division’s Area of Responsibility in Borno State.
“The Division will provide security cover for your team to access all children” he stressed.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Executive Director SPHCDA, Dr. Sule Meleh congratulated the GOC on his recent appointment to command the Division.
He said Nigeria was very close to being certified a Polio free Nation before new cases were discovered in Borno State.
He appreciated the cordial relationship between SPHCDA and 7 Division.
He was accompanied by UNICEF Access Secretary, Tekende Mckechnie, representative of World Health Organization, Colonel AU Gregory (rtd) and Project Manager e-Health Africa, Momoh John.
