President Buhari’s village head rescued in Kano after two months in kidnappers’ den

 Alhaji Musa Umar, the kidnapped father-in-law to President Buhari’s ADC, has regained his freedom.

There were indications that Umar was rescued in Kano.

A statement by Kano state police command spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna disclosed that the District head was rescued unhurt.

He added that an unspecified number of suspects were also arrested from where he was rescued at Gangan Ruwa Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

Sources said his rescue was effected early Tuesday morning by the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team working in line with objectives of Operation Puff Adder.

Umar, who is the Magajin Garin (Village Head) of President Muhamammadu Buhari’s hometown, Daura, was abducted at about 7pm on May 1, 2019 in his Daura residence, Katsina North, shortly after observing Maghrib prayer.

Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the rescue of the village head saying, “Magajin Garin Daura has been rescued. Congratulations to the entire people of Daura and Katsina state in general.

The village head, who is a retired former Comptroller of Customs Service, is married to the niece of President Muhammadu Buhari and his daughter is the wife of the ADC to President Buhari.

The freed Magajin Garin is a younger brother of the emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Farouq Umar.

Confirming that he was rescued in Kano, his younger brother and Dan Lawan Daura, Umar Umar Ata, said, “I can tell you that he (Magajin Garin) has been rescued alive and in good health condition. He was rescued in Kano. We thank God for that. I will have to make further enquiries also”.
